I've got OpenFire 3.8.1 running on a Windows Server 2008 x64 system using the embedded DB. We are using LDAP. Of course, as soon as I say that and open the admin panel, I realized I have no idea what my password is...LOL
Either way, OpenFire 3.8.1 on Windows Server 2008 seems to work just fine for me with the embedded DB and LDAP. BTW, we're using Pandion 2.6.106 for the client, since it's deploy-able via GPO & MSI.
